Happy Memorial Day Weekend
I hope everyone has a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend. It's a great holiday to spend time with our friends and families as we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice to preserve the freedoms we enjoy.

Now that we've had some breathing space....
I know this is a repeat message, but it's one that is very important to me. I can't fully express my appreciation to everyone who worked on and supported the campaign. We obviously did not have the most advertising, but I think...I know...it was made up for by heart and the good works and support of everyone involved in the campaign.
It seems like it is a long road to November, but that time will pass quickly, I think.
So...thank you again...and as I said in the last posting, on to November!

THANK YOU
As this election day starts winding down, I just wanted to drop a quick note to thank everyone for all the help and support over the past few months. I can't express, enough, my appreciation and thanks. We'll be at the polls until they close. We'll get a chance to talk over the next few days. Best Molly

The Election, Integrity and a Position Statement/Ad
If you don't get a chance to read the Citizen's Voice or the Times Leader today, we have an ad running through Monday. It's more of a statement about the election...integrity...and what it means. It builds on a prior blog.

Molly’s Open Letter to the Community
Hi. I'm Molly Hanlon Mirabito. I believe in the future of Luzerne County and the people who are helping to move us forward. With your help, I can best contribute to this process by running for and serving as judge.
I have over 22 years of courtroom experience. In my private practice, I advise and represent families and clients. As an Assistant District Attorney, I prosecute criminals, work with crime victims and their families, and collaborate with law enforcement officers. I am proud to have the endorsements/recommendation of the Luzerne County Chiefs of Police, the Wyoming Valley Fraternal Order of Police, the Hazleton Fraternal Order of Police, the PSEA and the Citizen’s Voice.
But the focus of this letter is integrity. This term has been used a lot in the election. But how do you define it? What does it mean for the election?
I believe your integrity or moral code is a roadmap that defines the way you live. As a judge, it takes on heightened meaning since you are now charged with the public trust.
For the past three months, I have used the word integrity extensively in my campaign. But it's not a word that I just recently discovered. It has been a way of life for as long as I can remember.
It means
• My word is my bond.
• I will not sacrifice my values for personal or professional gain.
• I will not sacrifice my values even if pressured to do so.
• I will never break the public trust.
If I am fortunate enough to be elected to the office, I will continue to follow these lifelong values and truths.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I ask for your support and your vote on May 17.
Best
Molly

Ballot Placement Handout for Tuesday
We developed a couple of ways to let people know where we're situated on the Democratic and Republican ballots. One is Internet-based and one is a handout card for the polling places. A picture of the handout card is included below: The actual card is printed by Blasi printing and will have the union bug on the bottom of the card.

Phone Call with Steve Corbett of WILK
WILK has been taking calls from political candidates all week. This has been a great service to the community and is greatly appreciated.
Molly called in to talk with Steve Corbett on Thursday (May 12). You can hear the talk by following the link:

Blogger System Burps & Broken Links
We received some technical info from Blogger that they had a slight system meltdown. So...one blog is missing and may not be restored. It concerned the article about lawyer donations. Most of the judicial candidates are accepting donations from lawyers, and Molly is not, to avoid even the suggestion of impropriety (among other reasons). The link to this site is currently broken. If you want to read the article, you can find it here:

Why Blog?
Someone asked a question- why should you spend the time writing posts for a blog? There is a simple answer: blogs have become essential information and news sources.
Think about it for a moment. In the past, you had to own a newspaper, radio station or television station to reach a large number of potential readers, listeners or viewers. The Internet and the availability of blogging tools...such as the one this note will be posted to...has somewhat altered this equation. Almost anyone with access to a computer and the Internet can create an electronic publication that can reach across the globe. It also means that in a free society, a diversity of opinions and voices can be heard. And in an election year, this is particularly salient.
Finally, writing a blog post in of itself does not guarantee that it will be read. But in one sense, that's not the important point. The important issue is that has the potential to be read.

Endorsements
Many political candidates list the endorsements they may have received. I think they're important as they can represent something...or some ideal...you believe in, and those who believe in you.
I have been fortunate to receive 3 endorsements and 1 recommendation that do represent important ideals to me. The 3 endorsements are from the Luzerne County Police Chiefs Association, the Wyoming Valley Fraternal Order of Police and the Hazleton Fraternal Order of Police. These 3 groups represent colleagues that I work with on a daily basis to help preserve the peace. As a judicial candidate, this takes on a personal and professional connotation.
The recommendation is from the PSEA-PACE (the PSEA-PACE recommends and does not endorse candidates). This recommendation is also important to me. Education is a potent force that serves the community and could be used by the judiciary as a proactive tool to educate and subsequently deter an individual from committing a crime. Education could also help eradicate the victimization of children.
